New Year's Cabin Trip

This last weekend Trevor and I spent the weekend at Trevor's Uncle's cabin up in the Uintas. It was an incredibly relaxing and fun trip. We left Wednesday afternoon with Trevor's Dad and snowmobiled into a chilly cabin. It was about 14 degrees inside the cabin when we got there and 15 degrees outside. Brrrr! We got right to starting a fire, turned on the electricity and started the electric heaters. There is no running water there in the winter so Trevor and Dad Hatch went to the natural spring about 500 ft from the cabin and filled up 5 gallon jugs for water. No running water also means no toilet :(.....so yes, we were confined to using the outhouse. Luckily because of the cold temperatures the outhouse doesn't stink quite as bad in the winter. After a few hours, the cabin warmed up and thanks to Mom Hatch who came up the next day, stayed a comfortable 75 degrees or so for the rest of the week. On Thursday we were joined by Dan and Suzanne and little Kaden and Mom Hatch. We spent the rest of the weekend playing Hand and Foot, snowmobiling in the meadow, reading books, eating delicious food, and taking long afternoon naps. We were all very sad to leave Saturday afternoon and as always, can't wait for our next trip. Here are some pictures of the trip:

Hi Mom Hatch!
Here we are all rendezvousing in the meadow. Danny must love that snowmobile.....

  1. That sounds like fun. (Except for the outhouse!) Gary's family have an old cabin that has an outhouse and I have to admit I don't like to rough it that much! Kaden is adorable. Danny doesn't sound like he has changed much - I think one of his snowmobiles was his first kiss. You'd have to double check on that though! Take lots of naps while you can...you deserve it!
