Christmas Meadows and Amethyst Lake

Well, it was another great weekend of camping fun! Trevor and I were able to travel with Mom and Dad Hatch up to the Uinta Mountains to spend the weekend at the family cabin! Man, it was so beautiful up there, I wish I were creative and had wonderful words to express the beauties we encountered, but since I am not, these pictures will have to do.

Trevor and I left Thursday night after work and headed up. We arrived at about 8:30 and unpacked and went to bed. We woke up Friday morning, ate a hearty breakfast and packed our day-packs. Our plan was to hike to Amethyst Lake, a lake that is legendary in the Hatch family. So we headed to the Christmas Meadow Trailhead. This is the picture of us at the beginning of our hike. It was a beautiful morning! Those hoodies came off pretty quick though! We attacked the 6.5 mile hike up the mountain and were able to make it to our destination at about 11:00.

And this is beautiful Amethyst Lake!

Well, it was a beautiful place, but unfortunately, we were not able to stay very long...the mosquitoes were destined to overrun the place and you couldn't enjoy one minute of sitting still without getting swarmed by dozens of them. I have never seen so many mosquitoes in my entire life! We tried to get some good pictures by the lake, but as these pictures show, it was very difficult to get one without one of us swapping at a bug.

So instead of relaxing and enjoying a day at the Lake, we decided to just meander our way back down the trail and get some pictures of all the waterfalls and meadows we passed. So here are some of the wonders of nature we were able to enjoy:

After our adventures on Friday, we were able to spend the rest of the weekend relaxing with Dick and Jane, fishing, playing card games and just enjoying the beauties of the Unitas. They are probably the closet place to heaven on earth.

3 Years!!!

Happy Anniversary!!

We had our 3 year anniversary this week (June 30). Can you believe it? We took Wednesday off work and went to Heber for the night, then went to some hot springs up Spanish Fork Canyon. It was a great little trip, but too short, of course. It was all fun and games until Trevor was bit by a 5' long blow snake. Luckily he is ok...but it sure scared us!

This is the snake that bit Trevor....mean mister snake!

This is Trevor's bite. Ouch!

This is us in the hot spring. Oh cute!

We can't believe it's already been three years. It has been the greatest three years ever though! So many fun times and great adventures. We have been so blessed and still feel like newly weds.
